KTS Enhances Virtual Meeting Experience for a Global Pharmaceutical Company
Client: Global Pharmaceutical Company
Location: Portsmouth, NH
Technology: A/V
Sector: Healthcare
A leading global pharmaceutical company with a Southern New Hampshire facility had previously worked with KTS to design and install a multipurpose space which is used as a cafeteria, town hall-style meeting place and video conference space. They sought to expand the space, building an addition and taking the audio visual system to a new level to further enhance the experience for employees. Using this space for virtual meetings is important to the company, since employee-participants are located around the globe.
The Work
The multi-level addition included a mezzanine and incorporated additional screens, speakers, speaker supports, soundproofing, projectors, cameras and televisions. KTS began working with the general contractor before the building was walled-in, in order to plan the wiring installation so it could be done as the project progressed and not as an afterthought. The general manager was impressed – he had never worked with a company so proactive.
KTS, the project manager and the general contractor were in contact at least every two weeks to pace KTS’s work based on the progress of the overall project and coordinating schedules to get the work done. KTS planned and completed the different phases of their work as it fit into the overall project.
Installing the new equipment and updating the data cabinet were among the last items to complete the project. Construction delays caused the timeline to extend out six months and the timeline for KTS to complete the final equipment installation and data center updates got squeezed.
Challenges
The challenge of this project was the need for KTS to be as flexible as possible on availability as project completion was dependent on other elements of the project out of KTS’s control. As is common with construction projects, the timeline got pushed out which delayed KTS’s final deliverables. After 6 months of delays, KTS was ready to finish the equipment installation and, as planned, needed a week in the project timeline to get the job done. Unfortunately, they only had 3 days. The company had a town hall meeting scheduled in three days’ time and the new space had to be fully functioning to showcase the new meeting space and new A/V capabilities.
Undaunted, KTS brought in additional resources to accommodate the timeline so that the meeting space would be fully functioning in time for the town hall meeting. All equipment was installed, tested and operational in advance of the town hall, aligned with KTS’s reputation of being a trusted partner to get the job done on time and to best serve the customer.
With everything in place, the town hall meeting went off without a hitch. Screens descended from the ceiling in perfect unison, and all the equipment worked perfectly.
Benefits/Impact
The new addition to this multipurpose space has been seamlessly integrated into the original space, the new and existing audio visual equipment is in sync and the space is up and running to host everything from company gatherings to international video town hall meetings.
