Durgin-Park – Historic Building Wiring
Client: Durgin-Park historic restaurant
Location: Boston, MA
Technology: Wiring upgrade
Challenges: Timing, historic building
KTS brought two essential capabilities to the Durgin-Park table:
- Expertise
- Flexibility
Effectively and efficiently working on wiring and cabling in old, historic buildings is a skill. KTS has a proven track record of repairing, replacing and upgrading wiring and cabling in many old (and many historic) buildings in the Greater Boston area. The first task was to determine the architecture of the communications network; easier said than done. Once KTS had the architecture defined, the team could focus on testing the wiring, defining the pathway for new or replacement cables and ensuring the communications infrastructure would support the new POS system.
Testing, repairing and replacing cables in a restaurant requires scheduling accuracy and flexibility. The work to be done cannot be scheduled in a Monday to Friday 8-5 timeframe. The KTS team scheduled and completed all work in 3 hour per day increments prior to Durgin-Park opening. Wiring was tested, repaired and verified without any disruption to this famous restaurant’s operations.
