Cambridge Hotel Relies on KTS as they Plan for Renovation

The Situation

As is common in the hospitality industry, a major US hotel chain is renovating its Cambridge, MA location. In advance of making upgrades, the hotel reached out to KTS to install upgrades to the communications infrastructure with CAT 6 cabling.

The Work

One of the planned improvements for the hotel was upgrading the HVAC system. To support this upgrade, the experienced technicians at KTS installed six runs of CAT 6 cabling throughout the hotel. They were terminated on the first, third and fifth floors of the building to be accessible throughout the building for the planned work. The upgraded cabling will support the new, state-of-the-art HVAC controls in guest rooms and other parts of the building.

Challenges

Like many buildings throughout New England, the hotel building is estimated to be about 100 years old, with brick walls and solid ceilings. Age and structure present challenges in finding pathways through which to run the cabling. KTS has decades of expertise and experience working in older buildings, installing communications infrastructure upgrades while preserving the integrity and history of the building. By using the drop ceilings in the hallways and carefully drilling in discreet areas of the bricks, the highly-skilled technicians from KTS were able to create conduits for the cabling upgrade.

This hotel, in Cambridge, MA, is wired with new cables to support a future state-of-the-art HVAC system which, along with other upgrades, will provide guests with a pleasant stay. The communication infrastructure upgrades with CAT 6 cables have been professionally installed, preserving the building and its architecture. This venerable old building is ready for another century of service.
