As schools look toward opening up to students for the fall semester, they are seeking – and finding – creative solutions to adapt their campuses to the requirements of social distancing.
The summer of 2020 finds KTS working on some of these projects for schools around Eastern New England. There are many different efforts underway to create safe options to bring students on campus.
One large Boston-area university has reimagined their food service. They have partnered with a well-known food ordering and delivery service to provide contact-free food ordering for pick-up and delivery throughout the campus. This will eliminate crowded dining halls and long lines for take-out orders.
Students will use an app linked to their personal meal plan account. To process the orders, KTS is installing Point of Sale systems and printers around the campus, as well as ensuring that wireless access and reliable cell service are available throughout the campus so no one gets “hangry” waiting to order their meal. Food service is just one of many concerns for schools as they begin to reopen.
A well-known private secondary school north of Boston is addressing the concern of social distancing in dormitories. They are creating new living space in two existing buildings in order to accommodate all students in single rooms. KTS is upgrading the communications infrastructure in these buildings to ensure that the buildings will have the necessary capability to meet students’ needs for a successful fall semester.
Educational institutions are working hard to shift to new ways of learning and living on campus. Whether you need to upgrade infrastructure, install the needed equipment for a reimagined dining experience, or ensure reliable wireless or cell coverage around the campus for safety and security, KTS has over 35 years of experience working in the education sector.
