Poor cellular reception is bad for business; but you do not have to resign yourself to living with this situation. Productivity and security are at risk. KTS solves poor cellular reception for a wide range of companies and institutions including hospitals, commercial properties, individual buildings or across campuses.
There are many reasons for bad cell reception at work. The reality is it’s more prevalent than you’d expect. Companies in newer buildings with high efficiency, low-E glass often find they can’t make a phone call. The glass actually repels cell signals. The huge stone blocks in beautiful old stone buildings from the 18th and 19th century also present challenges to cell reception. Whatever type of building you are in, KTS can likely solve the cell reception issue – read more here about our design of cellular reception solutions.
There are three primary options we evaluate to solve poor cellular reception in commercial environments:
- A Cellular Bi-directional Amplifier (BDA) which boosts or amplifies the cell signal. We have designed and installed many cellular BDA systems to solve poor cell reception in the office, across campuses, in hospitals and in many other work environments.
- Distributed Antenna System (DAS) A standard DAS is carrier specific and is hard wired. While this option may be the right fit for you, we have designed alternative solutions to save our clients considerable money over a DAS and achieved reliable cell coverage for them. Learn more about the differences between DAS and cellular BDAs here.
- Hybrid Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is another option as it offers a cost-effective, flexible solution to poor cell reception. Like the cellular BDA, the in-building hybrid DAS is a multi-carrier solution, but it uses single-mode fiber as its backbone. This is ideal for larger square footage areas, because each antenna covers approximately 5000 square feet. Read more about single mode fiber here.
